Infineum proposes net-zero emissions plan

ECHEMI 2023-03-15

Infineum recently announced its GHG reduction goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. In the short term, the company will further expand and intensify its current work and efforts to reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of its operations by 20% by 2025.

Currently, Infineum is working to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its supply chain. A provisional roadmap has been drawn up to achieve these goals and will continue to work with suppliers and customer partners over the next few years to continuously improve the company's emissions reduction efforts. According to reports, Infineum’s new emission reduction target is to support the goal of the Paris Agreement on the trajectory of greenhouse gas emission reduction. That is, by 2030, the greenhouse gas emission intensity of operating assets will be reduced by 50%; by 2050, operating assets will achieve net zero emissions. It is reported that Infineum is committed to helping customers achieve their greenhouse gas emission targets by utilizing the life cycle assessment (LCA) method.

Trevor Russell, CEO of Infineum, said: “The progress we have made on our sustainability journey gives us the confidence to further scale up our greenhouse gas reductions, including towards net zero emissions. This will enable us to deliver lower carbon solutions to help customers achieve their low-carbon goals. This also represents Infineum's transformation into a world-class, sustainable specialty chemicals company vision, and our commitment to create a sustainable future through innovative chemical science A crucial step has been taken on the road.”

In addition, since 2018, Infineum has achieved a 14% reduction in the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions generated by its operations. This is mainly achieved through improved operations, especially energy efficiency.
