Clariant: Driving profitability with sustainable innovation
Clariant released its financial report on March 2, stating that the company's goal this year is to achieve higher profitability through sustainable development and innovation in order to achieve growth above the market level, and confirmed that its goal for 2025 is to achieve profitable sales growth , the Group's EBIT margin is 19%~21%, and the free cash flow conversion rate is about 40%.
From a macroeconomic perspective, Clariant expects the economic environment to show a weak recession in the first half of 2023, compared with the strong performance in the first half of 2022, and expects a recovery in the second half of the year, while uncertainties related to the economic environment Sex and risk will continue to exist. Clariant expects sales of CHF 5 billion in 2023, taking into account a negative impact on sales of around CHF 130 million due to divestitures and bolt-on acquisitions.
Clariant stated that the company's goal is to offset the decline in sales of other business units through the continued recovery of the catalyst business, and slightly increase the profit margin compared with the previous year. At the same time, Clariant plans to offset the negative impact of the cellulosic ethanol business and the impact of continued inflation through the benefits of the restructuring plan.
Last year, Clariant made achievements in environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainable development. For the whole year of 2022, the Group's total direct greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by 13% from 0.71 tons in 2021 to 0.62 tons, and the total indirect greenhouse gas emissions will also be reduced by 4% from 2.70 tons in 2021 to 2.58 tons. Clariant believes that this result is due to the adoption of more energy efficiency measures at the production site, the accelerated transition of the energy structure to renewable energy, and the purchase of a higher proportion of green electricity. Clariant said that it will continue to strive to improve the transparency of customers related to greenhouse gas emissions throughout the product life cycle and achieve milestone breakthroughs.
