Merck's new anti-AIDS drug, Dolaverin, approved for listing in China

ECHEMI 2020-12-01

On November 27, China's National Food and Drug Administration (NMPA) recently announced that the new drug application for drug Dolaverin tablets developed by Merck (MRK.US) for the treatment of HIV infection has been approved. According to an earlier announcement by the NMPA Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE), the indications for the application are: suitable for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in combination with other antiretroviral drugs and without NNRTI (non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor) drug resistance Adult patients with previous or existing evidence. It is reported that doravirine (doravirine) is an innovative once-a-day oral non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor developed by Merck. It binds to the reverse transcriptase of the HIV-1 virus to prevent the HIV-1 virus from converting RNA into DNA, thereby blocking HIV-1 virus replication. This time, it was approved to be marketed in China for dolaverin single-drug tablets, and the listing application was included in the priority review by CDE. As early as August 2018, doravirin single-drug and its compound preparations were approved by the US FDA for the treatment of adult HIV-1 infected patients who have not received antiviral therapy.
