Colorcon invests in the construction of a new film coating production plant in Malaysia
Colorcon, Inc. has officially announced its investment in a new manufacturing plant in Johor, Malaysia, to produce its thin film coating products. The project will commence in August 2023 and is expected to be completed in July 2025. This first-class facility will be the eighth in Colorcon's global network. And we will produce high-quality and innovative film coating products for pharmaceutical and nutritional manufacturers in Southeast Asia, including Australia and New Zealand.
According to CPHI's 2022 global survey, the ASEAN pharmaceutical manufacturing industry will grow at an annual growth rate of 12.8% from 2021 to 2027, due to an increase in chronic disease prevalence, an increase in elderly population, high research and development investment, and an increase in per capita medical expenses.
Simon Tasker, The CEO of Colorcon explained, "This investment strengthens our strategy by bringing the Colorcon factory closer to our customers and supporting the expected growth in the region. The new factory in Malaysia will shorten delivery cycles, improve our sustainability, and strengthen our assurance of customer supply in the region. At the same time, it will ensure the quality and equivalence of any products produced by our manufacturing network to tourist attractions around the world.”
Willem Hoogwater, Managing Director of NESEA, said, "We hope to make it easier for customers to use Colorcon. The new factory represents a significant commitment to customer satisfaction, convenience, and supply chain elasticity in Southeast Asia. Investment in regional production will further enhance Colorcon's ability to provide customers with the high level of service they expect, and we believe that our customers should receive such service.”
The investment in local production will increase the flexibility of Colorcon in production scheduling, providing customers with higher efficiency and ensuring that the supply chain meets future industry needs. Colorcon has 11 production bases, 25 technical service laboratories, and over 1400 employees dedicated to customer service worldwide.
