Syngenta launches selective herbicide ELUMIS (Mesotrione + Nicosulfuron) in Argentina

2023-11-09

Recently, Syngenta launched the selective herbicide ELUMIS during the Argentinean Weed Congress 2023, combined with the active ingredients Mesotrione + Nicosulfuron, which can control broad-leaved and gramineous weeds, and has stronger control over fast-growing weeds for post-emergence corn crops.

Syngenta said ELUMIS is targeted at Amaranthus spp weeds, which currently affect 87% of Argentina's agricultural area, and Eleusine indica and Sorghum halepense, which affect 40% of the country's arable land.

In addition, Syngenta recommends that ELUMIS be used in combination with GESAPRIM (Atrazine) to maximize the control effect while reducing the development of resistance.

Syngenta's herbicide manager for South America said that weed species in Argentina are becoming more complex, while there are other problems in the United States, and one of the main concerns this year and in the coming years is grass weeds, which have increased in variety year by year compared to previous years when only quinoa and Conyza japonica were available. Therefore, Syngenta's technical service team helps producers evaluate different situations and adopt different strategies for different plots.
