Solvay and Huatai Expand Hydrogen Peroxide Production Capacity in China
To meet growing demand from the photovoltaic industry, Solvay is expanding hydrogen peroxide production capacity at its Shandong Huatai Interox chemical plant in China, a joint venture (JV) with Huatai Chemical.
The investment will enable the plant, located in Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone in Shandong Province, to produce 480,000 tons of photovoltaic-grade hydrogen peroxide per year by 2025.
"Our collaboration positions Solvay as a key contributor to achieving China's ambitious carbon neutrality goals. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and building on our established position in the high-purity hydrogen peroxide market, This strategic partnership capitalizes on the rapid expansion of photovoltaic power generation in China. " said Philippe Kehren, CEO of Solvay.
"Our joint venture with Solvay demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainability. This expansion is not just about adding capacity; it is about making a significant contribution to China's carbon neutrality goals and the growth of the photovoltaic industry. By increasing the capabilities of our plants, we not only meet the needs of the rapidly growing market, but also strengthen our position as a key player in the renewable energy sector," added Wang Yukang, chairman of Huatai Chemical.
