Mitsubishi Chemical launches innovative ultra-low specific gravity PBT resin

ECHEMI 2024-02-27

Recently, Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG Group) launched an innovative polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin - ZR series NOVADURAN™. The uniqueness of this product lies in its ultra-low specific gravity and excellent foaming performance. Sampling will begin in January 2024.

It is reported that the ZR series is a new resin developed by MCG Group based on its proprietary formula and advanced manufacturing technology. Unlike traditional foam materials, the ZR series can produce ultra-low specific gravity molded products below 1.0 without the use of complex processes or special molding equipment. This innovation not only simplifies the production process, but also reduces production costs and provides more possibilities for a wide range of application fields.

In the automotive field, reducing the weight of components to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions has become an important industry demand. ZR series PBT resin is expected to play an important role in this field with its high chemical resistance and heat resistance, as well as excellent weight reduction effect. In addition, the resin can also be widely used in related fields such as industrial materials, electricity and electronics, contributing to promoting sustainable development.

MCG Group stated that they will continue to work on enhancing the functions of NOVADURAN™ and developing composite product technologies to provide high-performance, high value-added products. This move will not only meet the growing needs of customers, but also inject new vitality into the development of the chemical industry.
