India's Birla Carbon plant receives ISCC PLUS certification

ECHEMI 2024-05-14

Birla Carbon, one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality carbon-based solutions, announced that three of its plants in India (Renukoot, Gummidipoondi and Patalganga) have received ISCC PLUS certification with zero non-conformities. These plants have been certified as "traders with mixed carbon black storage and conversion facilities".

The ISCC PLUS certification for three of Birla Carbon India’s plants is a milestone that highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability and its key role in driving positive change. This achievement not only enhances the reputation of Birla Carbon’s India operations but also positions the company as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing, cementing its leadership position among regional and global stakeholders.

Commenting on the recognition, John Loudermilk, President and CEO of Birla Carbon, said:"We are very proud that our India factory is ISCC PLUS certified. These milestones mark Birla Carbon’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. Our role in driving positive change in manufacturing in India and greater Asia was also highlighted. As we expand our certification efforts globally, we are even more committed to setting industry benchmarks and promoting a more sustainable future."

Birla Carbon's efforts to certify all of its facilities worldwide demonstrate the company’s commitment to setting industry benchmarks and fostering a more sustainable future. Birla Carbon’s U.S., Korean and Italian facilities have received ISCC PLUS certification, with more facilities to become certified throughout the remainder of 2024. Birla Carbon’s globally recognized certification highlights its drive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
