allnex’s seven production sites receive ISCC PLUS certification

ECHEMI 2024-06-26

allnex announced a major milestone in its sustainability journey with the achievement of ISCC PLUS certification for all seven of its production sites, covering all its major technologies. allnex is a supplier of sustainable and innovative resins for industrial coatings.

The partnership with ISCC is an important part of allnex’s strategy to achieve its sustainability goals. ISCC PLUS certification is a third-party assurance of allnex’s mass balance practices. This enables the company to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of its products and ensure traceability from origin to end user. The certification also ensures compliance with strict social, economic and environmental standards.

“This certification is an important demonstration of our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Miguel Mantas, CEO of allnex. “It not only demonstrates our decarbonization efforts, but also aligns with our recently announced commitment to reduce scope 3.1 emissions by 30% by 2030.”

“We are proud to support our customers on their sustainability journey,” said Davy De Clercq, Head of Sustainability at allnex. “The ISCC PLUS certification provides assurance of the biogenic carbon content in our products. Certified biogenic carbon content can be considered a carbon footprint reduction according to specific criteria. The fact that ISCC had to create and define new chemical categories suitable for some of our technologies shows that allnex is truly a pioneer in adopting the ISCC PLUS certification.”

allnex’s ISCC PLUS certification enables our customers to benefit from the verified biogenic carbon content of their own products. The certification ensures maximum flexibility and ease of use, as the products maintain the same characteristics as fossil-based products. It eliminates the need for additional testing or approval processes.

Customers can also count on allnex for guidance in implementing sustainability practices, preparing for audits and understanding the benefits of mass balance content and associated emissions reductions. Depending on the product and manufacturing location, the impact on the carbon footprint reduction can vary from 15% to 70%.

Other plants in China are expected to be certified by mid-July 2024 (Changshu and Fengxian). The Rayong, Thailand and North Augusta, USA plants are scheduled to undergo certification audits by the end of 2024. ISCC PLUS certification is just one example of many sustainability initiatives that reinforce allnex’s commitment to a sustainable future for the next generation.
