Nouryon Receives ISCC PLUS Certification for Green Ethylene Oxide, Ethanolamines and Ethylamines
Nouryon, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has announced that its facility in Stenungsund, Sweden, is now certified under ISCC PLUS, the international sustainability and carbon emissions certification standard, for the production of green ethylene oxide, ethanolamines, ethyleneamines, and surfactants made from these raw materials. The company is a leading global producer of ethyleneamines and surfactants.
"We are pleased to offer our customers key raw materials such as green ethanolamines and ethyleneamines based on sustainable sources to help lower the carbon footprint of their products," said Sirpa Engman, Vice President of Intermediates at Nouryon. "This launch, in addition to our recently launched green monochloroacetic acid (MCA), demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing sustainable solutions to our customers."
Ethylene oxide, ethanolamines and ethyleneamines are key ingredients in the production of surfactants, which are used in applications such as cleaning, personal care, crop protection, oilfield, paper and textile manufacturing. Surfactants are used to make detergents, shampoos and other cleaning agents for general cleaning applications, both in the home and in industrial settings. Nouryon’s green ethylene oxide, ethanolamines and ethyleneamines are sustainable alternatives that help significantly reduce the carbon footprint of products while providing the same high quality and performance.
"Our customers value high-performance solutions that also support their environmental goals," said Brad Pearson, Vice President of Cleaning Products at Nouryon. "The introduction of green ethoxylated surfactants to the home, industrial and institutional cleaning markets marks an important step in supporting our customers by providing high-quality cleaning solutions while reducing the carbon footprint of our products."
The company is also a leading global supplier of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) and became the first supplier of green MCA to be produced from sustainably sourced raw materials and to receive ISCC PLUS certification at its Delfzijl, Netherlands facility.
As a specialty chemicals manufacturer, Nouryon is committed to ensuring its products meet or exceed industry sustainability benchmarks without sacrificing performance.
