Mitsui Chemicals Ethylene Plant Restart Delayed

Osaka Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (OPC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals, has discovered that the steam supply system of its ethylene plant has malfunctioned during a shutdown for scheduled maintenance. The restart of production operations will be delayed until the problem is resolved.

Mitsui Chemicals said it is working to resolve the problem so that the plant can resume production as soon as possible, but currently expects it to take about two to three months to resume production. Once a more specific timeline is determined, it will be announced separately.

The company is carefully investigating the potential impact and will notify individual customers as necessary. "We are currently investigating the possible impact of the incident on our business performance. If the impact is expected to be significant, we will make a separate announcement," the company said.

OPC's ethylene plant has a production capacity of 455,000 tons/year.
