Mitsubishi Chemical, sell this business! Effective September 9!

On September 9, 2024, Mitsubishi Chemical signed a definitive agreement to transfer its triacetate business to GSI Creos Corporation.

 

The business to be sold consists of two parts: Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation's Toyama Plant, which produces and sells triacetate yarn and grey fabric under the Soalon™ brand, and Ryoko Sizing Co., Ltd. in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture, which is engaged in triacetate yarn processing. The official transfer is expected to be on March 3, 2025.

 

Mitsubishi Chemical targets key markets based on major global trends and conducts portfolio management focused on market growth potential, competitiveness and sustainability.

 

Triacetate is a man-made cellulose fiber made from natural pulp, produced exclusively by Mitsubishi Chemical worldwide, and is highly regarded in the clothing market in Japan and abroad for its material properties. Demand is expected to grow in the future, and the consideration for transferring this business is to achieve sustainable business growth under the leadership of GSI Creos Corporation.

 

GSI Creos Corporation is mainly engaged in the textile business, including various yarns, fabrics, underwear and outerwear products; industrial products business, including machinery, chemicals, hobby products, semiconductor-related products, carbon nanotubes, etc.
