Syensqo Collaborates with Bota Bio on Hair Care
Syensqo recently announced a five-year strategic partnership with Bota Bio, a global industrial biotech company specializing in biomanufacturing, clean and high-performance consumer products.
The collaboration highlights Syensqo’s efforts to expand its portfolio of renewable and biotech solutions.
Founded in 2019, Bota Bio is known for its innovation. The company combines biodesign with large-scale production to promote sustainable living.
Thomas Canova, Head of Research and Innovation at Syensqo, commented: “Due to our shared business vision and growth goals, this collaboration with Bota Bio is in line with our leadership in innovation and underscores the key role biotechnology plays in our rapidly expanding portfolio of specialty ingredients.”
Syensqo will leverage Bota Bio’s protein technology to innovate in hair and scalp care, with a focus on hair repair and growth. The collaboration, led by Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotech Platform and Beauty Business Unit, aims to develop high-performance biomimetic ingredients, leveraging Syensqo’s 40 years of expertise in hair care and increasing its focus on scalp care.
Cheryl Cui, CEO of Bota Bio, added: “Bota is actively working on developing advanced strains and optimizing manufacturing processes to increase the scalability of production of innovative hair care ingredients. We are excited about the opportunity to leverage Syensqo’s heritage of innovation and expertise to define the product.”
The collaboration was initiated and supported by Syensqo Ventures, which works with emerging startups. Syensqo Ventures and Bota Bio believe that translating cutting-edge technologies into sustainable applications requires collaboration across the value chain and between corporates and startups.
