Astorg Acquires Natural Active Ingredient Supplier Solabia
Private equity firm Astorg will take over from TA Associates as the majority shareholder of Solabia Group. However, TA will reinvest in the Solabia Group and work with Astorg to support Solabia in executing its growth plans.
Founded in 1972, Solabia develops "high-performance ingredients" using advanced biotechnology capabilities, including fermentation, enzyme synthesis, plant extraction and green chemistry.
Based in Paris, Solabia has 11 production sites and 8 R&D laboratories around the world, with a total of more than 900 employees. The company has achieved double-digit growth in the past five years and will focus on further accelerating international expansion, especially in the United States and Asia, and advancing its innovation roadmap.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the coming months. Specific financial terms have not been disclosed. But according to information from Capital Finance, the transaction amount will be between 1.1 billion and 1.2 billion euros, almost 20 times EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), and EBITDA is close to 60 million euros.
