Wanorong New Materials 960,000-Ton PVC Project Advances Environmental Assessment in Fujian

ECHEMI 2025-06-25

On June 13, Wanorong New Materials (Fujian) Co., Ltd. announced the second public notice for its environmental impact assessment of a 960,000-ton annual PVC production project. The project, designed to leverage internal resources and optimize production efficiency, is a key addition to the Wanhua Fujian Industrial Park in Jiangyin Port Economic Zone, Fuqing City.

This newly constructed facility will span 52.48 hectares and operate 8,000 hours annually, with a workforce of 148 employees running on a three-shift system. The expected construction period is two years, during which the plant will establish a comprehensive production chain by utilizing hydrogen chloride byproducts from MDI (800,000 tons/year) and TDI (expanded to 720,000 tons/year) facilities. By converting these byproducts into polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the plant aims to maximize resource efficiency and strengthen Wanhua Fujian's position in the petrochemical industry.

Established on March 31, 2021, Wanorong New Materials is a subsidiary of Wanhua Chemical, with 80% owned by Wanhua Chemical and 20% by the employee stockholding platform. The company focuses on high-end petrochemical production and downstream chemical development, contributing to Wanhua's expansion in Fujian's industrial value chain.

In addition to the PVC project, Wanorong New Materials is involved in other strategic developments:

  • High-End Polyolefin Joint Venture: This foreign-invested project includes facilities for ethylene production via ethane cracking, FDPE, mLLDPE, and LDPE production units, along with auxiliary infrastructure.
  • Integrated Isocyanate Feedstock Project: This initiative recycles brine from upstream processes, including high-salinity wastewater and refined saltwater, to support the isocyanate production chain.
  • 600,000-Ton Polycarbonate (PC) Project: Announced on May 16, this project involves the installation of three 200,000-ton PC units, utilizing advanced international technologies to enhance production capacity and efficiency.

These initiatives position Wanorong New Materials as a key player in the sustainable expansion of China's petrochemical industry, ensuring resource optimization and industrial growth in Fujian.
