Today, the ethylene glycol price slightly eased but still remained at a relatively high level within the month. According to the data, as of August 28, the average price of oil-based ethylene glycol in China was 4,498.33 CNY/ton, up 1.50% from the average price of 4,435 CNY/ton on August 1.

In terms of port ethylene glycol, on August 28, 2025, the basis of the spot contract price for port ethylene glycol first rose and then fell. This week, the basis range for the spot contract was +58 to +69 CNY/ton. By the close, the basis range for next week's contract was +68 to +71 CNY/ton, the basis range for the late September contract was +70 to +74 CNY/ton, and the basis range for the late October contract was +64 to +67 CNY/ton.

The spot price of coal-based polyester-grade ethylene glycol in China (bulk, tax included, self-pickup) for a full truckload is 4050-4100 CNY/ton.

On the international front for ethylene glycol, recent spot deals have been negotiated around $531–$534 per ton.
