Growing Demand Drives Up Activated Carbon Prices
September 5th News
According to the commodity market analysis system monitoring: At the beginning of the week, the price of activated carbon in China was 12,866 CNY/ton, and by the end of the week, the price of activated carbon had risen to 12,933 CNY/ton, an increase of 0.52%.
Chinese activated carbon prices from manufacturers have increased this week. The factory price for coconut shell activated carbon used for water purification in East China is between 9,500 and 13,000 CNY per ton. Currently, the demand for coconut shell activated carbon in the environmental protection field, as well as traditional areas such as water treatment and air purification, continues to grow. Market transaction conditions are being closely monitored.
From the supply side, as the main source of coconut shells globally, Southeast Asia faced multiple natural disasters in 2024. Thailand experienced a reduction in fragrant coconut production due to drought and pests, while the coconut yields in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia were also affected. This led to a decrease in the supply of coconut shell raw materials, resulting in a shortage of coconut shell char supplies.
Forecast: Transaction activity in the Chinese market is expected to pick up, and activated carbon prices are likely to remain volatile yet generally stronger in the short term.
