Mitsubishi Chemical will invest 110 million euros to expand the German polyester film production line
Mitsubishi Chemical announced on October 1 that it will invest 110 million euros to expand the polyester film production capacity of its subsidiary Mitsubishi Polyester Film Co., Ltd. (MFE) in Wiesbaden, Germany.
The new production line is designed to produce 27,000 tons of polyester film per year. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024 and will become one of the world's largest high-performance polyester film production facilities.
This is Mitsubishi Chemical's third investment in the global polyester film business since 2018. The first investment was to open a new production line in South Carolina, USA in 2018; the second was to invest in the construction of a new production line in Jakarta, Indonesia, which is scheduled to start production in 2022.
Currently, Mitsubishi Chemical has polyester film production bases in Japan, China, Indonesia, the United States and Germany. In the future, Mitsubishi Chemical will continue to expand its production capacity and is committed to becoming the world's leading company in high-performance polyester film, while making its own contributions to the realization of sustainable development goals and the realization of a circular economy.
