Symrise and French family company Groupe Neroli will establish a joint venture in Grasse
On November 2, Symrise announced on its official website that it will establish a joint venture with the French family company Groupe Neroli in Grasse.
Symrise said: Through the establishment of a joint venture with Groupe Neroli, Symrise hopes to sustainably expand its natural product production capacity, increase the production of backward integrated ingredients, and create new and greater capabilities in flowers and Mediterranean materials. Symrise will bring its expertise in sustainable ingredients such as Madagascar vanilla into the partnership. Symrise will become the main stakeholder. As an independent perfume manufacturer in the region, Groupe Neroli will increase its more than 35 years of experience and realize its diversified activity plan in the cultivation and development of perfume plants.
The partners chose the Grasse area as the location for the new joint venture because of the town’s unique climate, plants and flowers, as well as its perfume tradition-and Symrise’s long roots in Grasse. The joint venture is building a fully equipped factory in Grasse and is working with local partners to establish R&D and ingredient development laboratories. Symrise and Groupe Neroli hope to create the most technologically advanced and sustainable factory in the region-a professional center that produces their own natural ingredients in an environmentally and socially conscious manner.
The joint venture intends to establish long-term partnerships with local farmers to promote the richness of the region’s most symbolic flowers, including roses, jasmine, orange blossoms and mimosa. In addition, the company will also use proprietary materials grown in other parts of the world (including Madagascar), as well as excellent raw materials from professional farmers and producers. Through this initiative, Symrise is also committed to improving the social conditions of these professional trainers, which will produce 49 new natural ingredients and consolidate Symrise's key position in the field of natural perfume ingredients.
Ricardo Omori, Global Senior Vice President of Fine Fragrance, said: “For many years, Symrise has been purchasing sustainable and backward integrated natural raw materials from Madagascar and other countries. We are now able to significantly expand our natural products business through cooperation with Group Neroli. Go to Grasse, with its centuries-old tradition and savoir faire, brings Symrise to the perfume center. We started this new business by respecting the great tradition of craftsmanship, and we are equally excited to be able to bring true innovation and sustainable craftsmanship. Push to the front desk to commemorate the history of the perfume industry."
