He quickly excelled at science and began working with other famous thinkers, such as Jean-Paul Marat and Benjamin Franklin, who took an interest in his research.

He married Marie Anne Pierrette Paulze, daughter of a wealthy tax collector, in 1771. They thrilled together the couple and had three children; unfortunately, Lavoisier's wife died during childbirth in 1793 after learning that the guillotine would execute her husband shortly after she gave birth.

Likewise, he contributed to both physical science and applied science, as well as economics, through his development of an accurate system for measuring heat energy in various substances, including air and water.

His work influenced Thomas Young, who would later develop Fourier analysis-the basic structure upon which all future sciences are built.
