Guangdong Maoming Longan Harvest End Price Continuously High

Guangdong Maoming Dragon has been harvested. According to the local fruit management department, the total output of longan decreased slightly this year compared with last year, but the price doubled and the price remained high throughout. 

Maoming enjoys the reputation of "China's First Fruit City" and is also the world's largest longan production base. At present, the longan planting area in the city is about 780,000 mu. The main varieties are Chuliang Guangyan and Shijie. Its leading variety, Chuliang Guangyan, is famous at home and abroad for its large fruit, thick flesh, sweet crisp and unique flavor. The Fruit Bureau of Maoming City indicated that the situation of longan in Maoming City was very good this year. Although the total output of longan decreased slightly compared with last year, a small number of retail farmers reduced production and income, but most of the fruit farms increased production and income. Longan is commonly known as "Yuan Meat". Besides fresh fruit sales, it can also be dried, canned and decocted. After deep processing, the price of "Yuan Meat" is several times higher than that of fresh Longan fruit.

The head of Maoming Popular Fruit Industry said that longan matured slightly earlier this year than in previous years, and began to be picked and listed in early June. The selling price was 30 yuan per kilogram, and the selling price in the middle and late period was also between 24 yuan and 26 yuan per kilogram, with little change.

Dianbai a fruit farm owner Mai Ming told reporters that this year the longan production of the farm reached more than 500 tons, less than in previous years. Because of the hot weather, the whole harvesting period is relatively fast. All distributors from Hong Kong, Macao, Fujian, Sichuan and the surrounding cities are personally ordering, packaging and shipping in the fruit farm, saving time and effort, so that Longan sales channels become simple and convenient. It is known that Maoming longan is mainly exported to central and southern China, but also to the United States, Canada, Japan and Southeast Asia.
