What are Iron Oxides
Iron oxides are chemical compounds composed of iron and oxygen. There are sixteen known iron oxides and oxyhydroxides, the best known of which is rust, a form of iron oxide. Iron oxides is widespread in nature and play an important role in many geological and biological processes. They are used as iron ores, pigments, catalysts, and in thermite, and occur in hemoglobin.
Chemical Weathering of Iron Oxides
There are two main types of chemical weathering - dissolution & oxidation which both depend on what substance the rock component consists of. Dissolution occurs when minerals containing elements that can easily be dissolved by rainwater are exposed to it for long periods; Oxidation occurs when water reacts with components containing oxygen; examples include iron oxides (Hematite) & Hydroxide Ions (rust), which oxidized from iron oxides to hydroxide Ions, aluminum & Iron, which oxidize to form aluminium oxides (Kaolin),By doing this, what was once rocks were turned into soil and sand.

◇ Iron Oxides in cosmetics: as a pigment
Pigments are also called colorants or colorants, that is, the sum of substances that can be used to change the color of other substances or products. The role of adding various pigments in cosmetics is to make cosmetics beautify and modify. Pigments can be divided into three categories: synthetic pigments, inorganic pigments, and natural plant and animal pigments according to their sources. Inorganic pigments are called mineral pigments. Sodium ethoxide is used as a catalyst for the synthesis of hydrazine in catalysis by means of dehydrogenation reaction by heating it with metallic iron or iron oxide to yield hydrazinium ion and nitrogen oxides such as nitric oxide at high temperature and pressure.

● LANXESS expanded its Colortherm Yellow pigment series
LANXESS has expanded its Colortherm Yellow pigment series for heat-resistant high-performance plastics. Two new inorganic yellow pigments are now on the market, namely Colortherm Yellow 5 and Colortherm Yellow 26. They are based on iron oxide and zinc oxide, respectively, and are specially designed for low-cost coloring in the temperature range of 220°C to 260°C. In the same color space, they have the same high color intensity, providing plastic manufacturers and processors with an excellent compromise between the best-in-class Colortherm Yellow 20 and Colortherm Yellow 30 products. These products are thermally stable. The performance is as high as 300°C.
