Gansu: multiple measures to restore pork production and ensure market supply

Xinhua news agency, Lanzhou, November 29 (reporter Zhang Xinxin and Cheng Nan) although it's winter, Xie Chunyuan, from Sichuan Province, is still inspecting all over Gansu. He is selecting the site for his 120000 pigs breeding and breeding project. Compared with Sichuan, Gansu has a dry climate, low breeding density, large environmental capacity, and is easy to prevent and control disease Xie Chunyuan said that with a letter of introduction issued by Chongzhou Federation of industry and Commerce of Sichuan Province, he had already gone to Baiyin, Jinchang and other cities in Gansu Province. There are not a few enterprises like Xie Chunyuan who are interested in or have come to Gansu to invest in pig breeding. According to the data provided by the Department of agriculture and rural areas of Gansu Province, since this year, Gansu has introduced six large-scale modern pig raising enterprises, including Zhengda, new hope, Tang Renshen, muyuan, Tianzhao and Tiankang, with a total planned investment of 6.05 billion yuan. According to Zhang Yongguang, director of Lanzhou Institute of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Gansu's breeding density is low, isolation conditions are good, and the climate is dry, and microorganisms are not suitable for survival. In addition, the preferential policies issued by the local government have promoted pig breeding enterprises to speed up their distribution here. It is understood that this year, Gansu Province has implemented 13 million yuan of national pig standardization scale breeding project funds, focusing on the award and compensation of large pig breeding projects under construction with an investment of more than 100 million yuan in the province. At present, pig projects of major leading enterprises have all started construction, most of which will be put into production at the end of the year or early next year.
Before that, Gansu was the province where pigs were transferred. In 2018, the net transfer in of pigs and their products in Gansu was equivalent to 704000 pigs. It is only a measure to promote pig production in Gansu Province to introduce and cultivate leading pig enterprises. Gansu also supports the pig industry in terms of capital subsidies, project financing, agricultural insurance, etc. Gansu has allocated 30 million yuan from the special funds for the whole industry chain of modern animal husbandry to support 10 pig counties to subsidize breeding sows, so as to ensure that the number of breeding sows does not decrease. In addition, Gansu Province also arranged 8.41 million yuan to give short-term loan discount to pig farms and large-scale pig farms with an annual output of more than 5000 pigs in the province, and issued 33.57 million yuan of financial subsidy for insurance premium of sow and fattening pig, which has covered 327400 sows and 60000 fattening pigs. At the same time, all agricultural machinery and tools applicable to pig production are included in the scope of provincial subsidies.
