For the first time in 70 years, the US has become a net oil exporter
According to the data released by the US energy information administration on November 29, the export volume of crude oil and petroleum products in September this year exceeded the import volume, and the United States became a net oil exporter for the first time in 70 years. According to the data, in September this year, the oil export of the United States increased by 18% year-on-year, with an average of 8.76 million barrels per day; the oil import decreased by 12% year-on-year, with an average of 8.67 million barrels per day, with a surplus of nearly 90000 barrels. According to Kyodo news agency of Japan, this is the first time that the United States has achieved a monthly oil trade surplus and become a net oil exporter since it began to collect the oil import and export figures in 1949. The U.S. energy information administration released a short-term outlook on energy in early November. It is expected that the U.S. oil trade will maintain a deficit in 2019, with a daily average deficit of 520000 barrels, but it will achieve a surplus in 2020, with a daily average surplus of 750000 barrels. CNN reported in September 2018 that the United States has become the largest oil producer in the world according to the estimation of the U.S.
Department of energy. According to the weekly oil supply and demand report released by the U.S. energy information administration on November 27 this year, the current average daily oil production in the United States is about 12.9 million barrels. This figure is much higher than the current oil production of Saudi Arabia and Russia. In June, the United States surpassed Saudi Arabia as the world's largest crude oil exporter, according to a monthly report released by the International Energy Agency in September. At the end of last year, US media reported that the United States once became a net exporter of crude oil, breaking the continuous dependence on imported crude oil for more than 70 years. But the report didn't say how long the surplus lasted. In the past decade, the rise of shale oil in the United States has more than doubled oil production, thus changing the global energy landscape. But shale oil development comes with environmental costs. Researchers remind that the water consumption and wastewater volume of shale oil and gas exploitation in the United States have increased significantly since 2011, indicating that the impact of hydraulic fracturing on local water resources is more significant. In shale oil and gas production, hydraulic fracturing is mainly used. By means of high pressure, the mixture of chemicals and a large amount of water and sediment is injected into the ground to fracture the rock structure near the oil well, and then crude oil and natural gas are collected.
