Arkema Launches New Acrylic Polyol Emulsions for Industrial Coatings
Arkema recently introduced SYNAQUA 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion for the formulation of industrial coatings with low VOC content (<150 g/l).
"SYNAQUA 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion has a significantly reduced VOC capability and performs well in 2K or 1K baking systems. Our goal is to help industrial coating formulators more easily achieve their sustainability goals by reducing VOC levels with high-performance aqueous solutions," said Claire Reynier, global marketing and business development manager, industrial coatings, Arkema Coating Solutions.
SYNAQUA 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion is suitable for topcoat and single coat applications on a wide range of substrates, including general metal, plastic, glass, wood or concrete floors.
It is a waterborne acrylic polyol emulsion with hydroxyl groups (3% OH) designed for demanding industrial applications that traditionally require products with higher VOC levels. Coatings made with these binders can help manufacturers achieve key performance goals such as durability, gloss, adhesion and chemical resistance.
Specific application benefits include.
1. on metals (2K PU topcoats): low VOC capability (86g/l), chemical resistance, durability and good mechanical properties.
2. on metals (1K baked topcoat): low VOC capacity (100g/l), good hardness, chemical resistance and low yellowing.
3. on plastics (2K PU topcoat): low VOC capacity (85g/l), good adhesion, high hardness, chemical resistance and durability.
4. On glass (1K drying single coat): low VOC (100g/l), high hardness, good adhesion, water resistance and chemical resistance.
SYNAQUA 9511 new acrylic polyol emulsion is a key addition to Arkema's range of performance-leading waterborne and solventborne binders and a variety of additives and monomers for industrial coatings.
"Sustainability is a core component of everything we do, from research and new product development to manufacturing to how we ship and handle our products," Reynier said. "We are always looking for new ways to help our customers meet the industry's current and emerging sustainability challenges."
