syphilis
Syphilis is a chronic sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum. It can invade the skin, mucous membranes and other tissues and organs, and may have a variety of clinical manifestations. It is sometimes asymptomatic during the course of the disease. The pathogen can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta, causing fetal syphilis. It includes: latent syphilis, primary syphilis, secondary syphilis, tertiary syphilis (late syphilis), pregnancy complicated by syphilis, congenital syphilis (late congenital syphilis, fetal syphilis), neurosyphilis, syphilitic arthritis, non-venereal syphilis, spinal syphilis, gastric syphilis, esophageal syphilis, syphilitic scleritis, and syphilis combined with HIV infection.
