This product belongs to the macrolide antibiotics. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome of sensitive bacteria. It has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus (except methicillin-resistant strains), streptococci of all groups and Gram-positive bacilli. Streptococcus pyogenes, group A hemolytic streptococci, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, meningococci, gonorrhea, Bordetella pertussis, etc. are also sensitive to this product. This product also has antibacterial effects on various anaerobic bacteria except Bacteroides fragilis and Fusobacterium.
