Experimental Properties:Specific gravity of a 50% aq soln: 1.25 @ 25/15 °C.|Sodium mercaptobenzothiazole will dissociate into ions in aq solution. The anion complexes readily with a wide range of metal ions; this is believed to be the basis for its activity as an anti-corrosion agent. Below pH 7 the anion is protonated and forms insoluble mercaptobenzothiazole.
