(16b) 2-Methoxypyridin-4-ol A solution of 4-(benzyloxy)-2-methoxypyridine produced in Example (16a) (4.65 g, 21.6 mmol) and 10percent palladium carbon (2.30 g, 2.16 mmol) in ethanol (100 mL) was stirred in a hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 30 minutes. The insoluble matter was separated by filtration and then the filtrate was concentrated to obtain the title compound (2.70 g, 99percent) as a colorless oil.
