1-Chloro-2-methyl-3-nitrobenzene Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The preparation method is to obtain 2-chloro-6-nitrotoluene by chlorination of o-nitrotoluene. Add o-nitrochlorobenzene, catalyst iodine, and anhydrous ferric trichloride into the reactor, and pass chlorine gas at 50-60℃ until the relative density of the reactants reaches 1.27-1.29 (48-50℃). Wash 3 times with 5% hydrochloric acid, then 2 times with water, and finally add lye to adjust pH=7. Separate the water layer, evaporate the water and fractionate under reduced pressure, collect the fraction at 120~150℃/5.3~8 kPa, cool, precipitate crystals, and filter to obtain 2-chloro-6-nitrotoluene.

Uses

Used in the synthesis of 3-chloro-2-methylaniline, 2,6-dichlorobenzaldehyde, etc.
