Toray builds new high-performance carbon fiber production line
Recently, Toray announced that the company's European subsidiary will invest about 100 million euros to build a new high-performance carbon fiber production line at its factory in southwest France.
The production line is planned to start construction in the second half of 2023 and is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2025, adding 1,000 tons of capacity. The investment will also create about 50 new jobs at the plant, the company added. Toray said the new line will allow the company to meet growing demand for high-performance carbon fibers in France and other European countries. The company noted that high-performance carbon fiber products are well suited to the needs of high-tech industries such as renewable energy, nuclear energy and aerospace.
Toray said that since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Toray Carbon Fiber Europe has adjusted its business model and shifted its business focus from the aerospace market to industrial sectors related to green energy production and development of new transportation solutions. With this investment, Toray Carbon Fiber Europe prepares for the future in view of the continued demand from these emerging industries and the gradual recovery of the aerospace industry.
