Ranking of the world's top coating manufacturers: 8 Chinese companies
The US "Coatings World" magazine recently announced the 2020 global ranking of paint and coating manufacturers. The top three are still PPG, Xuanwei and Akzo Nobel.
This year, eight paint companies in China made the list, which is flat compared to last year. Among them, Sankeshu became the first Chinese paint company to rank among the top 20 in the world, ranking 15th.
With its substantial growth in sales in 2019, Sankeshu achieved a significant jump in rankings, ranking 15th with US$1.05 billion in sales, becoming the first Chinese paint company to rank among the top 20 in the world; Shanghai Huayi Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. Ranked 28th with US$585 million; Xiangjiang Paint ranked 29th with US$539 million; Carboline ranked 35th with US$450 million; Bardez ranked 41st with US$340 million; Dabao Chemical ranked 49th with US$276 million Daqiao Chemical ranked 51st with US$251 million; Bauhinia Paint Group ranked 60th with US$208 million.
The position of the top ten has not changed much compared to previous years. PPG Industries, Xuanwei and AkzoNobel still firmly occupy the top three positions with sales of more than 10 billion US dollars. The sales revenue of the three companies was 38.06 billion US dollars, accounting for 38.75% of the total revenue of the list.
No. 4 Japan Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. has sales of US$6.31 billion in 2019, which is still quite far from the US$10 billion "super giant" line. They were followed by Lipamax, Axalta, BASF, Kansai Coatings, Asian Coatings and MASCO, with a sales of more than 2 billion US dollars to form the "second camp."
Among the top ten companies in the world, American companies occupy half of the seats, Japan has two seats, and the Netherlands, Germany, and India each have one seat.

From the perspective of income, the total revenue of the companies listed on the list was US$982.265 billion, a decrease of US$1.7627 billion compared with previous years. Among them: PPG, Xuanwei, and AkzoNobel had a total revenue of US$38.06 billion, accounting for the total revenue of the list. 38.75%; the total revenue of the top 10 companies is 67.23 billion US dollars, accounting for 68.44% of the total revenue of the list.
This is the 11th consecutive time that "Paint World" has released the list since 2010. There are a total of 82 companies on the list this time, and the entry threshold is 2019 sales revenue of more than 100 million US dollars. The list is based on the annual sales revenue of coatings and related businesses (adhesives and sealants, etc.) in fiscal 2019.
