Adama has announced exclusively to AgroPages the launch of a new herbicide Acert (active ingredient: oxalic acid) in Brazil, developed in partnership with RiceTec, a multinational specialist that researches rice hybridization and commercialization.Chinese

According to the manufacturer, the solution is designed to control invasive red rice (Oryza sativa) and other hard-to-control weeds, such as barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-pavonis). Red rice is the most harmful weed to rice crops. "Crop yields that are invaded by red rice can easily lose more than 30 percent. High levels of pest infestation can even make agricultural production impossible," says João Ibelli, Product Manager, Herbicide at ADAMA.

The listing of Acert expands ADAMA's product portfolio in rice cultivation to include several other herbicide solutions such as Mayoral (metmidazolenicotinic acid; imidazolium niacin) and Vezir (mimidacina tobacco). "Acert is a selective herbicide that works in the late seedling stages of weeds and is suitable for crops grown with RiceTec hybrids (Max-Ace technology) that are tolerant to herbicides that inhibit ACCase," Ibelli said.

According to Leandro Pasqualli, the company's director of business development, Max-Ace technology is another tool to control Redmi. "By growing Max-Ace, producers can use Acert herbicides to control red rice, resistant barnyard grass and other weeds without harming the crop. We are pleased that this solution has achieved better control and crop tolerance results among weeds," adds Pasqualli.

"Acert's control is excellent, and red rice has plagued farmers for years. This technology will be combined with sustainability to help growers increase profitability," concludes ADAMA Manager, "The partnership with RiceTec is global and will also have a positive impact in Brazil, with great results for farmers." ″
