The company lays off 18,000 people!
In the past year, the performance of global technology stocks has been quite poor, Meta, Tesla have fallen to record times, in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency, many Internet companies have begun to lay off employees.
At the end of 2022, Meta started the layoff mode, involving tens of thousands of employees. At the beginning of 2023, e-commerce giant Amazon has also joined the layoff mode.
In the first week of 2023, Amazon announced a layoff plan, involving more than 18,000 people.
It is reported that Amazon's layoff is the largest layoff in the company's history, and it is also the largest layoff in Silicon Valley in recent years.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said that the departments involved in the layoff include Amazon stores and people, experience and technology. The biggest impact this time belongs to the two sectors of Amazon Fresh and Amazon Unmanned Supermarket.
The chemical industry is also unavoidable, and many chemical companies have also felt the cold wind, and many leading companies have taken action to reduce wages and lay off employees.
The chemical faucet is constantly moving
BASF said that due to the deterioration of the environment, the company's German division's third-quarter loss and significantly weaker earnings in Europe, will cut its total annual costs in Europe by 500 million euros in 2024, and more than half of the cost reduction will be implemented at its German headquarters in Ludwigshafen, including the layoff plan. The Ludwigshafen plant is currently the largest chemical production plant in the world with around 39,000 employees. BASF is slowing down hiring and cutting marketing budgets.
China Paint Group issued a profit warning that the group will achieve between HK $47 million ~ HK $54 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022, and the estimated amount of loss has increased significantly, expanding by more than 2 times year-on-year. It said that the employee termination fee in 2022 was HK$6,663,000, and the increase in expenses was mainly due to the continued integration of Chinese mainland production facilities and the streamlining of labor and personnel. As at 30 June 2022, the Group had a total of 673 employees, a decrease of 14.6% from 788 in the same period last year.
As of the end of the third quarter of 2022, the remuneration payable by Oriental Yuhong was 94.05 million, a year-on-year decrease of 9.55%. According to insiders, there is a loss in a department in a certain operation area, dare not take new projects, it is difficult to collect money, and some sales positions have lost their meaning, which is also the main reason for large-scale layoffs.
