LG fire caused bisphenol A to seal the disc, and the epoxy resin had to rise
On November 5, the Internet reported that a fire broke out in the cracking unit of the Yeosu plant of South Korea's LG Chemical, which caused the downstream ethylene and propylene to be unable to produce, and affected the latter phenol-acetone plant, and even affected the bisphenol A and its downstream PC plant.
According to reports, the fire occurred in the main control room, which is the heart of the device. Once it is overrun, all operations will be stopped and repairs will be more cumbersome. Market participants expect that the shutdown will last for two to three weeks, and some believe that it will take three to four weeks to recover.
Affected by this news, the domestic bisphenol A market has not been closed, waiting for follow-up new news, the relevant factories have been adjusted to 14,000 CNY/ton before the closing. It is reported that the bisphenol A market in North China and Shandong has continued to rise before this, with reference to 13100-13200 CNY/ton on the 3rd.
According to the Coatings Purchasing Network, two people were injured in an explosion accident at the Guodu Chemical Resin Plant, a leading epoxy resin company, which has had a greater impact on domestic epoxy resin companies. On November 2, the price of epoxy resin rose sharply, breaking through 25,000 CNY/ton in one fell swoop, and soaring by 4,000 CNY/ton per day, making it top the list of topics in the chemical market. On the 3rd, the price exceeded 26,500 CNY/ton, and within two days, the price of epoxy resin increased by 5,250 CNY/ton! Due to the tight supply in the market, most of the manufacturers currently close the market and wait and see. For major resin manufacturers such as Zhangjiagang Hengye in Jiangsu, Jinan Tianmao in Shandong, Baling Petrochemical, Shanghai Yuanbang, and Jiangsu Yangnong, E-51 is temporarily not available.
The LG Chem fire accident will have a greater impact on the BPA/PC market. It will also add fuel to the fire, and prices will continue to rise.
