In a new review, scientists summarize the latest developments in colorful nanocomposites for repairable structures.
As fascinating biological features of many organisms, structural color and repairable features play a crucial role in the survival of many organisms. Inspired by these features, repairable structure-colored nanocomposites incorporating photonic structures and repairable polymeric materials have recently attracted increasing attention.
Repairable structure-colored nanocomposites can effectively repair their damage and ensure sustainable optical and mechanical properties of functional materials, thus having promising applications in vision sensors, color painting, and anti-counterfeiting.
