Australia and New Zealand to approve genetically modified banana strain QKAV-4 for food use

According to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) news, on May 12, 2023, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) issued notice 241-23, including application A1274, for the approval of genetically modified banana strain QCAV-4 for food use.

The application was submitted by Queensland University of Technology and the transgenic banana line QCAV-4 is resistant to the fungal disease Fusarium Wilt Tropical Race IV (TR4).
