Lantmännen Biorefiners, leader of the Agricultural cooperative, bioenergy and food sectors in Northern Europe, opened a new wheat protein production facility in Norrköping, Sweden, in May. This facility will increase the company's total wheat protein production capacity from 9000 tons per year to 29000 tons.

Lantmännen's cooperative is owned by 18000 Swedish farmers and operates in over 20 countries. Lantmännen's press release states: "As more and more companies discover new uses for plant proteins, people's interest in plant proteins is increasing. The raw material wheat comes directly from Swedish farmers on cultivated land and member farms. Without intermediaries, the quality of raw materials, production capacity, and the quality of extracted wheat protein are all guaranteed to be very high and consistent.”

This cooperative site also adds approximately 30 new employees to the group.
