Isagro: Flundapyr was approved in Brazil

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has approved a toxicological evaluation of the Isagro’s  Flundapyr.

Flundapyr is a pyrazolamide fungicide and nematocide developed jointly with Isagro Italy and FMC. FMC introduced the active ingredient in 2012, but did not specify the name of the ingredient. In 2020, Isagro acquired the rights to the ingredient for $65 million. Isagro Brasil was later merged with Goldmund.

Flundapyr is an inhibitor of Succinate dehydrogenase (SDHI), a key enzyme in the citric acid cycle (Krebs cycle, a series of chemical reactions used by all aerobic organisms to produce energy). Flundapyr interrupts the process of energy production by inhibiting Succinate dehydrogenase, which leads to fungal cell death.

FMC  launched Onsuva, a Flundapyr-based fungicide, in Argentina and Paraguay in 2022 for the control of soybean and peanut diseases.

In Brazil, there are several main categories of applications for registration of commercial products based on Flundapyr, such as:Erthos, Ferus, Rustop.

Isagro has also applied for the registration of its product under the trademark Fluarys ( Flundapyr + Prothioconazole) for soybean crops.
