Belgian chemical giant Solvay has opened a new plant in Rosignano, Italy, for the production of Alve-One, a chemical blowing agent used in the thermoplastic foam industry.

The company said the new production unit will meet the growing global demand for safer and more sustainable blowing agents for a variety of consumer and industrial uses such as automotive, footwear, construction and consumer goods.

Etienne Galan, President of Solvay's Soda Ash and Derivatives business, commented:"The inauguration of our Alve-One production unit in Rosignano demonstrates Solvay's commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions that directly benefit our communities."

"This facility enables us to efficiently meet the changing needs of our customers while also promoting a positive environmental footprint. It marks key progress in our mission to lead change across multiple industries, ensuring our customers receive top-notch solutions that meet their needs."
