Basf resolves dispute over Saflufenacil products in New Zealand

Basf recently announced that its patent dispute with Adria, a New Zealand company, has been successfully resolved. At the heart of the dispute is Adria's sale of Sledge 700WG herbicide, which contains BASF's patented active ingredient, Saflufenacil

The two sides reportedly reached a settlement. Under the terms of the settlement, Adria has removed Sledge 700WG products from the New Zealand market in order to respect BASF's intellectual property rights.

 Saflufenacil is a core component of BASF's Kixor® technology, which has been widely used in several of BASF's world-renowned herbicides, such as Sharpen® and Voraxor®, providing farmers worldwide with an effective solution to combat stubborn weeds.

Basf said it will continue to closely monitor the global crop protection product market and take action to uphold its patent rights when necessary to ensure Australian and New Zealand farmers have access to the highest quality agricultural inputs. In 2023, BASF invested €944 million in research and development, demonstrating the company's long-term commitment to sustainable agricultural development.
