FMC: Anthem Flex herbicide containing Pyroxasulfone receives new label approval in the United States

 FMC’s Anthem Flex herbicide has received a label extension approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to impregnate and treat the herbicide for use in cotton. This development provides cotton farmers with a new efficient and flexible weed management solution.

Anthem Flex herbicides are made up of two active ingredients, Carfentrazone-ethyl and Pyroxasulfone. This unique combination provides cotton growers with a novel solution for the pre-emergence management of key grasses and broadleaf weeds, especially for difficult weeds such as Amaranthus, barnweed, sinew, broomgrass and foxtail.

Anthem Flex's persistent nature makes it a key weed management tool, helping to achieve continuous control throughout the season. The flexibility of the herbicide is reflected in the way it is applied, with growers having the option to apply it by air or on the ground, impregnating the herbicide on the fertilizer for more effective weed control throughout the pre-emergence window.

As weeds continue to become more resistant to existing herbicides, the introduction of Anthem Flex provides cotton farmers with a much-needed and timely weed management tool for weeds such as Amaranthus that are resistant to multiple modes of action.
