Kemira expands alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing agent capacity in Nanjing, China
Kemira, a leading producer and supplier of alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA) in the Asia Pacific region, has completed a multi-million Euro investment to expand its alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing agent production capacity at its Nanjing site. The investment scope includes a third complete production line and additional storage and tank capacity to further improve customer delivery and supply reliability.
Alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing agents are used to improve the water resistance of paper and board, including packaging solutions. Alkenyl succinic anhydride is the sizing agent of choice for paper, packaging and board. Kemira is a leading producer and supplier of sizing agents in the Asia Pacific region, and Nanjing is the world's largest alkenyl succinic anhydride production site. Kemira's production in Nanjing has been expanding since its start-up in 2014.
“We are very pleased to complete this expansion project, which will enable us to better serve our customers in the Asia Pacific region and meet the growing demand for these high-quality sizing products. Alkenyl succinic anhydride is the sizing agent of choice for new paper, packaging and board machines,” said Nichlas Kavander, Senior Vice President Commercial Pulp and Paper Asia Pacific at Kemira.
The new line will be fully operational in October 2024.
