Mitsubishi Chemical Group Expands Ion Exchange Resin Production Capacity in Japan

Mitsubishi Chemical Group has decided to expand the production capacity of ion exchange resins at its Fukuoka Plant in Kitakyushu, Japan. The upgraded facility is scheduled to be operational in April 2026.

Ion exchange resins are synthetic resins used in the field of water treatment, and their function is to selectively remove and collect ionic impurities in water. Mitsubishi Chemical Group has a wide range of ion exchange resins for various applications, including the production of industrial water such as soft water and pure water, refining of pharmaceuticals and food, and production of semiconductor ultrapure water. In recent years, as the semiconductor market has expanded, the demand for ion exchange resins used in the production of ultrapure water for semiconductor manufacturing processes has also increased accordingly.

In view of this situation, Mitsubishi Chemical Group has decided to expand production capacity to meet the growing domestic and international demand. Among the existing facilities at the Fukuoka Plant in Kitakyushu, the refining facility will be upgraded and is scheduled to be operational in April 2026.
