IMCD Unveils New Life Sciences Centre in Shanghai to Drive Innovation and Collaboration
IMCD has officially opened its new Life Sciences Centre in Shanghai, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the beauty & personal care, pharmaceutical, and food & nutrition sectors in China. The state-of-the-art facility integrates newly built and upgraded laboratories across these three key industries, creating a collaborative hub designed to enhance cross-sector synergy and elevate the level of technical support offered to customers and partners.
Strategically located within East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), the centre is set to foster close collaboration with the institution in talent development and innovation initiatives.
Part of IMCD’s global network of over 80 technical centres and laboratories, the new Shanghai Life Sciences Centre combines local expertise with international resources to tackle formulation challenges and accelerate new product development.
Key Highlights of the New Life Sciences Centre:

Food & Nutrition Laboratory:
Focused on applications in dairy, bakery, and savoury segments, this lab offers customized product development, including ready-to-eat samples and formulation kits. It also provides technical training, collaborative R&D, industry seminars, and on-site support tailored to the Chinese manufacturing environment. -
Pharmaceutical Laboratory:
Serving the North Asia region, this lab offers reverse engineering, troubleshooting, formulation development, and comparative analysis across various dosage forms—solid, liquid, and semi-solid. It also delivers technical training and specialized services such as rheology testing and chemical analysis. -
Beauty & Personal Care Laboratory:
Supporting formulation development in China and efficacy testing across the Asia-Pacific region, this lab covers skincare, sun care, hair care, toiletries, and color cosmetics. It is equipped with efficacy testing instruments, a collaborative beauty studio, and an in-house hair salon for product testing and demonstrations.
