Researchers successfully analyzed the environmental degradation products of the pesticide pyriconazole
Recently, the pesticide application risk control innovation team of the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences proposed a new three-step identification method for pesticide environmental degradation products, and successfully applied and analyzed the environmental degradation products of the pesticide pyriconazole created in China. The research results were published online in the Journal of Hazardous Materials.
According to researcher Xu Jun, when pesticides enter the environment, they are usually degraded under the influence of biological and abiotic factors, and may lose or reduce their activity.
However, they may also produce degradation products with higher toxicity and stronger stability, which are harmful to the environment and non-targets. Biological and human risks are higher than pesticides themselves.
China has created and registered more than 50 pesticides, but there are few data on their degradation products in the environment, and the environmental risk assessment is not comprehensive.
The "three-step identification method" proposed in this study starts with structure, chemical reaction and chromatographic peaks, and identifies and confirms 8 environmental degradation products of pyriconazole.
The classic ECOSAR software is used to predict the toxicity of degradation products to non-target organisms. Three of the metabolites are more toxic than the parent.
This study provides important basic data for the environmental risk assessment of pyriconazole, and provides a method reference for the identification and risk identification of pesticide degradation products.
The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science and Technology Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
