The year-on-year decline in sulfur imports shrank to 1.39% in January-November
According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China imported 999,600 tons of sulfur in November 2021, up 20.92% month-on-month and 86.62% year-on-year. Taken together, the amazing performance of China's sulfur import data in November may not only make it the highest monthly import data of this year, but also reduce the year-on-year decline of China's sulfur import from January to November 2021 to 1.39%. In addition, in view of the arrival performance of port in December, if there is no accident, the above year-on-year decline may be further reduced.
In November 2021, the united Arab Emirates ranked the first among China's sulfur imports by trade partner, with 205,100 tons of imports, accounting for 20.52% of the total imports in that month. Saudi Arabia ranked second with 124,300 tons of imports, accounting for 12.43% of total imports in the month. South Korea ranked third with 122,300 tons of imports, accounting for 12.24 percent of total imports for the month. As shown in Figure 2, the cumulative sulfur import volume of China from January to November in 2021 was 7.8319 million tons. According to the trade partners, the united Arab Emirates ranked first with 1.4446 million tons, accounting for 18.45% of the cumulative import volume from January to November. Saudi Arabia ranked second with 1.1817 million tons, accounting for 15.09% of cumulative imports from January to November. South Korea ranked third with 938,000 tons, accounting for 11.98 percent of cumulative imports from January to November.
From January to November 2021, The United Arab Emirates, China's largest trading partner in terms of cumulative sulfur imports, recorded a negative growth of 23.74% compared with the same period last year, while South Korea, the third largest trading partner, also recorded a negative growth of 5.09%. Five of the top 10 trading partners saw negative growth over the same period, and all but South Korea saw negative growth of more than 20 percent year-on-year. The other five countries in the top ten saw significant year-on-year growth, with Oman in particular achieving a transformation from zero to more than 700,000 tons.
At the same time, we can clearly see that the emergence of new trading partners is the key to the relatively small year-on-year decline in China's sulfur imports from January to November 2021. With the exception of Oman, historical data show that the last time China imported sulfur from Venezuela was in October 2010. Trinidad and Tobago is our country has never been involved in sulfur imports. The reason can be attributed to the high price of mainstream resources, and domestic can not fully meet the demand to force the relatively low price of non-mainstream resources into the.
