Nature
Colorless transparent liquid. Slight odor of ethanol. It can be miscible with water, ethanol, ether and chloroform. Its vapor and air form an explosive mixture, which causes combustion and explosion in case of open fire and high heat energy. Can react strongly with oxidizing agents. In case of high heat, the pressure inside the container increases, and there is a risk of cracking and explosion.

Preparation
The raw gas containing more than 50% of propylene is absorbed by 75-6-85% concentrated sulfuric acid at 50℃ and low pressure to produce isopropyl bisulfate. Then isopropyl bisulfate was hydrolyzed to isopropyl alcohol. The finished product containing more than 99% isopropyl alcohol can be obtained by extracting and separating the water with benzene and then distilling. Or the propylene and water are pressurized to 1.96 mpa respectively. It is preheated to 200℃, mixed and added to the reactor for hydration reaction. The reaction gas is sent to the high-pressure cooler and high-pressure separator after neutralization and heat transfer. The isopropyl alcohol in the gas phase is recovered by spraying with deionized water in the recovery tower, and 85% ~ 87% isopropyl alcohol aqueous solution is distilled by the crude distillation tower, and then distilled to 95% by the distillation tower, and then more than 99% isopropyl alcohol is extracted by benzene.

USE
Reagent for determination of barium, calcium, copper, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, strontium, nitrite, cobalt, etc. Chromatographic analysis standard. As a chemical raw material, it can produce acetone, hydrogen peroxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, isopropylamine, isopropyl ether, isopropyl alcohol ether, isopropyl chloride, fatty acid isopropyl ester and chlorinated fatty acid isopropyl ester, etc. In the fine chemical industry, it can be used to produce isopropyl nitrate, isopropyl xanthate, triisopropyl phosphite, triisopropyl aluminum and medicine and pesticides. As a solvent, it can be used in the production of coatings, inks, extractants, aerosols, etc. It can also be used as antifreeze agent, cleaning agent, additives for blending gasoline, dispersant for pigment production, fixing agent for printing and dyeing industry, anti-fogging agent for glass and transparent plastics, etc.
