1,1-Dichloroethane Use and Manufacturing
It is obtained from vinyl chloride under the catalysis of aluminum chloride, ferric chloride or zinc chloride, using 1, 1-dichloroethane as the medium, and reacting with hydrogen chloride in liquid phase. In the production of 1, 2-dichloroethane from the chlorination of ethylene, a small amount of 1, 1-dichloroethane is also co-produced.
Solvent for paint, varnishes; degreaser.Has been used as a surgical anesthetic.
