DuPont promotes heat-resistant phytase, which can significantly reduce feed cost

ECHEMI 2020-06-04

On June 2, DuPont Nutrition and Biotechnology (DuPont) announced the launch of the industry-leading new phytase Axtra® PHY GOLD. Compared with other phytase in the market, Axtra® PHY GOLD has better performance, which can save feed producers more cost while reducing the environmental challenges and other common challenges facing the feed production industry.

It is reported that Axtra® PHY GOLD will be the first to be listed in the United States, Mexico and India, and will eventually be sold globally, subject to regulatory approval.

Dr. Arno de Kreij, head of DuPont's animal nutrition business, said that premix and feed producers' demand for high-heat-resistant phytase is increasing.

As we all know, processing feed into pellets is conducive to improving animal performance and feed efficiency, and is currently the preferred feed delivery method. But not all enzymes are thermally stable, which means they lose their activity during the granulation process. Some feed producers have adopted stricter pelleting conditions to reduce potential pathogens in the feed, especially Salmonella.

The latest scientific research shows that Axtra® PHY GOLD can formulate a high phytate diet free of inorganic phosphates, thereby improving the sustainability of animal production. It also has market-leading thermal stability, which has been proven to be superior to other commercial phytase enzymes under various granulation conditions.
